Blast from the past

Blast from the past
Mansfield Drive In, Connecticut
"Ag Pleez Daddy
Won't you take us to the drive-in ..."

I thought of these Jeremy Taylor lyrics as we sat under a "made to fit" evening watching falling stars, fireflies and Toy Story 3, with the half-moon shining on Mansfield, CT drive-in.

We made a spur of the moment decision to go to the drive in last night, because we are on vacation and can stay out as late as we want to. No worries about getting up for work or school on a weeknight.

The weather was perfect. A welcome coolness in the air giving us a break from the heat wave of the past few days. Wife and I had good family time remembering the times we went to drive-in as children in South Africa, before TV was available.

On the different continent where luxury cars with power windows, self-defrosting side mirrors, and seat warmers are parked in almost every driveway "Won't you take us off to Durban - It's only 8 hours in the Chevrolet" doesn't translate that well.
